Food-safety guide

Cooking for neighbors comes with responsibility. Follow these basics on every plate.

Clean

  • Wash hands for 20 seconds before and during cooking.
  • Sanitize surfaces, cutting boards, and utensils.
  • Rinse fruits and vegetables under running water.

Separate

  • Use separate cutting boards for raw meat and produce.
  • Never reuse marinades that touched raw meat.

Cook

  • Poultry: 165°F internal temp.
  • Ground meats: 160°F.
  • Steaks, chops, fish: 145°F + 3 min rest.

Chill

  • Refrigerate perishables within 2 hours.
  • Keep fridge ≤ 40°F, freezer ≤ 0°F.

Allergens

Accurately label every plate with allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, eggs, soy, wheat, shellfish, fish, sesame). When unsure, disclose.
