Food-safety guide
Cooking for neighbors comes with responsibility. Follow these basics on every plate.
Clean
- Wash hands for 20 seconds before and during cooking.
- Sanitize surfaces, cutting boards, and utensils.
- Rinse fruits and vegetables under running water.
Separate
- Use separate cutting boards for raw meat and produce.
- Never reuse marinades that touched raw meat.
Cook
- Poultry: 165°F internal temp.
- Ground meats: 160°F.
- Steaks, chops, fish: 145°F + 3 min rest.
Chill
- Refrigerate perishables within 2 hours.
- Keep fridge ≤ 40°F, freezer ≤ 0°F.
Allergens
Accurately label every plate with allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, eggs, soy, wheat, shellfish, fish, sesame). When unsure, disclose.
